If you own a bar or restaurant you perhaps already have a music collection on your laptop, or maybe even a desktop computer, and perhaps you use it to play music in your establishment. But what happens when you go home? You take the laptop with you and no music etc.. in your bar!
Yes, you could make do with an iPod or other MP3 player but the user interface isn't ideal and can't display a lot of information. This is where the Pi Player could come in. If you haven't heard already, the Raspberry Pi is a British designed computer about the size of a cigarette packet for under 40 GBP (not including a case). They can be connected to normal TV's, computer monitors, or even a small inexpensive touch screen.
The device can not only play music, but videos too. It can also stream UK Freeview TV. Run a slide show advertising local products and services whilst playing music to your outlet in the background.
If you want to setup your own, you can do, we are now running a workshop for Raspberry Pi beginners (The Pi, case, keyboard, mouse, wifi dongle, hdmi cable, SD card will be built into the price of the workshop) - register your interest now.
OR, if you want us to setup one for you, install it and train you, please use this form (This will be for Pi, case, wifi dongle, SD card, installation of software and loading of your music library - you will need to provide the other hardware where appropriate).
Opt for headless - no screen, keyboard, or mouse and control from any smart-mobile-phone or tablet using freely available app or web interface. Your staff could use their own moby to control.
